Subawardees
When subawardees will manage their own Research Security Training (RST) compliance, they must complete the Certification of Subrecipient Research Security Training Compliance form located at https://go.illinois.edu/ResSecSubrecipient at proposal stage. This document is an assurance that the subawardee institution will manage and track RST for all applicable individuals.
If the subawardee institution will not manage their own RST compliance, their personnel can be added to the OVCRI training portal to complete the Illinois RST module. In this case, email researchsecurity@illinois.edu with (1) the names and (2) emails of the individuals who need to complete RST. ORS will grant them access to the portal. After access is granted and training is completed, the department submitting the proposal will need to track RST for the subawardees going forward.
ORS will also accept RST completion certificates from the NSF or other RST modules that meet federal standards. Email RST completion certificates to researchsecurity@illinois.edu with (1) the name and (2) email of the individual who has completed RST so they can be marked as compliant in the training portal. This step is not necessary for subawardees who will manage their own RST.
Collaborators, Consultants, and other non-UI Investigators
When external collaborators, consultants, or other non-UI investigators are included in a proposal and no subaward will be going to their home institution, Illinois must verify that these individuals are compliant with federal RST requirements.
