2026 University of Illinois Research Security Training Requirement

Proposals will not be submitted and awards will not be set up until the training requirements are met. |
Research Security Training Verification at Proposal Submission Process
To facilitate the quickest and most efficient review, complete the following steps as you submit materials in myProposals.
Step 1: Upload supporting RST documentation with the proposal submission in myProposals
- For Illinois investigators, collaborators, and consultants
- PDF Individual RST completion certificates OR a PDF using the Printable Report in Groups
For Subrecipients tracking their own RST:
- Completed subrecipient RST form, https://go.illinois.edu/RSTSubrecipient, OR a Letter of Intent that includes a statement of subrecipient RST compliance
Step 2: Send Notification to ORS
After you have uploaded the supporting documentation, click the “Send Notification” button in the myResearch Portal section for Approvals. RST compliance will be processed in order notifications are received.

Online Training
CITI Programs Export Compliance Training
Export Controls provides an overview of export compliance regulations along with information specifically tailored to certain roles, responsibilities, and activities through the CITI Programs portal. To register for the first time, log in through “My Institution”, select our organization affiliation. Follow the subsequent prompts to set yourself up as a learner. Each course module consists of instructional text, related case studies, and a quiz. The quiz can be retaken until a minimum passing score of 80 percent is achieved.
